And it needs fixing. I can't remember the last time either side got to a city siege on Iron Rock.

When my guild first transferred to IR we thought we made a huge mistake. That first week Destro was in Altdorf 6 of those first 7 days. Then the tide turned and we did the same back. Perhaps both sides got their fill of "sacking" cities and how depressingly boring they are. I consider Forts a part of end game, so they are boring too.

I've taken part in some recent Fort defenses and Destro does show up. But once they wipe having not even gotten through the first door we know they won't be back. They go to another zone. And we are left there sitting on our gear hoping to get a bag.

They should drop the cap. Once the first door is down have things break into instances -- wb vs. wb doing various scenario-esque things. Each Fort has three main gates and a lot of space inside for hiding, maneuvering, strategizing ... sadly it is mere eye candy as the defenders run inside the Fort and the attackers knock on the door.

Each gate leads to a different scenario. The game keeps a tally and whichever side wins determines what happens next. If the defenders' score is higher, they have repulsed the enemy. If it's the attackers' then we move to the next step ... whatever that may be. Performance is a big issue so split it up and then bring it back. The highest-scoring scenario parties get to take on the Fort Lord ... the others fight in different scenarios that all lead to taking the Fort. If these are meant to be epic then make them epic. Make the renown and loot worthwhile and make it feasible for either side to win and people will do it. By breaking things down it also reduces the zergfest.

Right now swapping zones seems to be where it's at ... I'm waiting to see what happens after Land of the Dead.Krosusshttp://www.comcast.netnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7279669963757550971.post-676724167730199172009-06-08T08:25:12.986+01:002009-06-08T08:25:12.986+01:00People dont go to forts in karak norn, because you...People dont go to forts in karak norn, because you get faster renown and tokens from zone lockouts. There are lockouts constantly now, and fortresses open very often. They push to fort fight only if two forts are open at the same time. The problem isnt that people have nothing to do when they cant get to fort... its the bloody renown from zonelocks. People used to trade keeps, now they trade zones. I guess forts will be next, followed by cityswapping someday...ymrarnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7279669963757550971.post-27340208434648854222009-06-07T06:42:35.163+01:002009-06-07T06:42:35.163+01:00I wrote about this same subject of forts the day a...I wrote about this same subject of forts the day after the recent nerf to population caps on my blog. It is even worse on Dark Crag because forts get pushed a few times every day. Now there is an exploit with being able to rez and bypass the supply lines so it ends up being 500 defenders to 100 attackers or vice versa.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16507484851860959875noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7279669963757550971.post-33918043149280580692009-06-06T22:35:34.447+01:002009-06-06T22:35:34.447+01:00You summed it all up nice Boots! And i agree with every word of it.Fortresses in its current form are nothing but intresting.

Improvements i would like to see are:
- More ramps up to the fortress Lord
- More renown for a fortress cap
- No more belts dropping guards (=no more belt farming / no more insane spawn of guards in the Lord Room)

Additionally, a i would like to see a fortress instanced, reducing the lag of the zone and so you can get youre whole warband in.dreekj3http://www.mmozone.nlnoreply@blogger.com
