Flat characters, some action, not very well written or interesting.

I also just read Xenos (The first Eisenhorn book) and it was a great deal of fun. The mystery-thriller plot structure kept my attention through a bumpy plane flight, and _setting_ of the last action sequence made me think a bit. Not often you can say that about a pulp mass market paperback. Hoping to find something as good for the fantasy setting. Whilst most weapon...They're talking shite mate. Whilst most weapons cost 1000 certs (the free currency from XP), some are as low as 100 and are decent too (Pulsar LSW for example for Vanu Heavy), also few others ranging between 250-500. I'll earn AT LEAST 100 certs with a few hours play (often much more), so that's no more than 1 night and on a night where I get more than a couple of hours I'd earn considerably more than that... Of course I could earn less if I ran round solo and unfocused, but then I'd deserve less for being shite ;)

Also there's very little need to purchase new weapons, I know plenty of folks that haven't. In most cases for infantry they're sidegrades, a couple of notable exceptions like Equinox for medic, but its not a huge deal. It's only with vehicles that they're considerable upgrades, so for those I'd certainly recommend spending a small amount of real life money for station cash to get some quickly.

However most of the stuff that makes the big differences isn't the weapons and all of those other things can only be purchased with certs.

Planetside 2 certainly aint perfect, but it's very good and that 70+ hours is either an outright lie, bad maths or just an utterly wank player.Bootaehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12857676039536372689noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7279669963757550971.post-9881850108317637332012-12-18T17:26:56.174+00:002012-12-18T17:26:56.174+00:00This did actualy seem interesting. The more territory your faction co...Thanks Chris.

The more territory your faction controls, the faster you all earn resources. These resources can be spent on various things (depending on the type) including further weapon options and the like. So as well as the basic desire to win, there are material gains from doing well in the campaign. To capture territory you need to take and hold various objectives in the bases and outposts, which will then lock it to your faction and then you can start working on adjacent hexes.

Also there are things like respawn tubes, power generators, force fields, equipment terminals and a range of different vehicle/aircraft terminals. All of which have impacts on the battlefield. So for example taking down the respawn tubes in a base your attacking could mean the enemy has to respawn further away. Or say there's a big push on one of the majorly large and strategically difficult to capture bases (some are harder due to location/terrain), you might choose to take out nearby outposts that have vehicle terminals to slow down the enemy's ability to get tanks to help defend.
